Toot Your Horn…
My favorite thing about myself is having the ability to view and see things from different perspectives and locking them into my memory. As many of you may or may not know, I have an impressive memory. The only downside to my memory is that I can’t remember everything and the more I try to remember, the older things get deleted to make room. For example: I can’t remember much of anything before the 6th grade, I remember bits and pieces from before than but nothing concrete. This reason I remember so much is because in my eyes at least I have somewhat of a photographic memory. I remember a lot about people like facial features, things they said, places we’ve been together, etc.
My mom thinks I’m crazy but I really enjoy eating Panda Express and I know where just about every location is in any area I’ve lived. Oh, you need directions to so and so? Yes, I know where that’s at! It’s by Panda Express. That’s usually how I give directions. My memory allows me to see different angles of situations because I’ve seen before how something turned out or I’m able to reenact a situation in my brain based of different memories. This has worked to my advantage and disadvantage, especially in relationships. I don’t tend to forget promises or things someone said, I remember them with images and every time I’m in that “picture” I remember and see things exactly how they were.
It is hard for me to let things go something because I am constantly reminded by myself and I don’t know how to manually delete images from my head. Can you see how it causes problems for me? I’m okay with that, I love my memory even though some hate it. I have an overactive brain, I think non-stop and go through images in my head to see different possibilities but I wouldn’t have it any other way. If anything I would like to be able to retain more and use the photographic part of my mind to the fullest.
What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
