The Week

1.Second snowstorm hits already snow-covered Northeast
Boston authorities postponed a victory celebration for the New England Patriots after their Super Bowl victory, moving it from Tuesday to Wednesday due to a record breaking winter storm. The second blizzard to hit the Northeast in a week dumped another foot of snow on Boston, which was blanketed with two feet of snow last week, the most snow ever to fall on the city in seven days. The storm has been linked to at least 10 deaths, and forced the cancellation of 2,900 flights in Chicago, Newark, Boston, and New York.

2.Paul and Christie criticized for vaccine remarks
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, both potential 2016 GOP presidential candidates, faced criticism from medical experts on Monday after suggesting some child vaccinations should be made voluntary. Paul said some vaccines…

My Whisperings

Broken Mind

~

Inside

A broken mind

Darkness rules with ruthless joy

No escape to find, no backdoor in this evil hell

Just me and my shadows of the past

Haunting

Taunting

Tirelessly torturing

Shamelessly demolishing what I am, what I once was

Innocent

Never any relief, never are those memories kind

Just me and my demons from before

Please, nevermore

Spinning in an endless circle

Falling down an ungraceful spiral

Fighting to leave the madness behind

In vain, going insane

No one saves me, no one can make me light

I ignite

Burst into all-consuming flames

Alone

It’s just me and my broken mind…

Rubik’s Cube invention: Google Doodle celebrates 40th anniversary of puzzle

~never meant to be a toy~

Google has celebrated the 40th birthday of the Rubik’s Cube with an animated doodle that allows you to try to solves the puzzle online.

In traditional Google Doodle fashion – the search company chooses important dates to celebrate with special drawings and links – the honor is interactive. The corners of the cube can be twisted and turned using your mouse, allowing you to have all the faces match a single colour. Eventually perhaps.

Invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik, it is believed that 350 million cubes were sold as of January 2009, making it the world’s top-selling puzzle game and toy.

There are only a handful of toys that last more than a generation. But the Rubik’s cube, now joins the likes of Barbie, Play-Doh, Lego and…

“. . . at this season, the blossom is out in full now, there in the west early. It’s a plum tree, it looks like apple blossom but it’s white, and looking at it, instead of saying “Oh that’s nice blossom” … last week looking at it through the window when I’m writing, I see it is the whitest, frothiest, blossomest blossom that there ever could be, and I can see it. Things are both more trivial than they ever were, and more important than they ever were, and the difference between the trivial and the important doesn’t seem to matter. But the nowness of everything is absolutely wondrous, and if people could see that, you know. There’s no way of telling you; you have to experience it, but the glory of it, if you like, the comfort of it, the reassurance … not that I’m interested in reassuring people…
